| Bliss-Fox ‘super’ tow tractor up to the challenge for Toll Dnata in Sydney |
| Monday, 16 March 2009 |
Global ground handling specialist, Toll Dnata, has taken delivery of its second Bliss-Fox 70 tonne F1-500 pushback/tow tractor to meet the demands of Emirates’ new A380 service to Australia. The new tractor was delivered on schedule for the arrival of the first Emirates A380 flight into Sydney in February. The proven performance of Toll Dnata’s original F1-500, delivered 18 months ago, coupled with Bliss-Fox’s high level of support, convinced the company to go with Bliss-Fox for its second F1-500 tractor. “We’ve found Bliss-Fox to be a reliable and service oriented supplier,” said Gary Taylor of Toll Dnata. “Our operators and ramp staff were consulted prior to making this important buying decision and they overwhelmingly favoured the Bliss-Fox tractor for its power and reliability. We’ve also been impressed with Bliss-Fox’s ability to deliver and commission the unit on time.” Bliss-Fox’s National Services Manager, Steve Barilla, who was closely involved in the delivery and commissioning of the new tractor said: “We’ve developed a strong relationship with Toll Dnata over the past 18 months, based on the reliability of our first tractor and our commitment to being responsive to their needs. They know they can call on us around the clock.” The top of the range F1-500 is well matched to the demands of moving the new generation of A380s boasting the highest power in its class at 450 kW. Excellent line-of-site and driver comfort are key ergonomic features of the tractor, which also has a full width enclosed cabin. The F1-500 is also available as a 54-tonne version for A340 and B747, and can be easily scaled up to the 70 tonne/A380 capability with the inclusion of drop-in ballast..
